Nearby the cabin you can find some of the best outdoor activities Washington State has to offer including river rafting, rock climbing, fishing, hiking and skiing. West of the cabin are the towns of Sultan (34 miles West) with its antique stores, Startup with its shops, Gold Bar has the closest larger supermarket (28.6 miles west of the cabin), Index with its charm, and Skykomish with it small shops, cafes, and espresso stand closest by.

Skykomish River Fishing

Skykomish River Fishing:

The Skykomish River offers great fishing for steelhead, salmon, and trout most of the year. The best fishing months are October - December. The Skykomish River splits just below the town of Index. The main part of the river as well as the North and South Forks offer good steelhead and trout fishing. click here.

Washington Hiking

Washington Hiking:

Some of the best Washington hiking and mountain biking trails are found in the foothills of the North Cascade Mountains. From a short one-hour hike to a full day hike, you can experience a wide variety of terrain and breath-taking scenery. The closest hike is at Deception falls, which is one of the best Washington hiking trails, less than 1 mile from the Cabin. Washington River Rafting

Skykomish River Rafting:

The Skykomish river offers some of the most adventuresome commercially guided white water rafting and kayaking in Washington. There are several local companies that offer professionally guided rafting adventures in the area such as Wave Trek and Chinook Expeditions.

Washington Rock Climbing

Rock Climbing:

The town of Index has a classic rock climbing area with steep and challenging free and aided climbing routes. There is one 5.6 route on the Great Northern Slab, and a handful of 5.7 and 5.8 routes as well. The majority of the routes at Index are aid routes and steep crack climbs. Stevens Pass Ski Area

Stevens Pass Skiing and Snow Sports:

Stevens Pass Ski Area is located on the crest of the Cascade Range. It receives an average of 450 inches of snowfall each year, covering 1,125 acres of skiable terrain, including 10 lifts servicing 37 major runs and numerous bowls, glades and faces. The ski area still retains the charm and characteristics that make it such a fabulous family area, but also contains an abundance of terrain for more adventurous skiers. It is situated at a base area elevation of 4,061. The Nordic Center features 25 km of wide, groomed trails and offers both traditional tracked trails and adjoining skating lanes for different skiing styles and abilities. The center is located five miles east of the Stevens Pass Ski Area on Highway 2.
